I spoke with the Joy Cone Company and finalized the whole tour plan. I apologize for the late notice; however, there have been some personnel changes within the company since I first started planning the trip. Also I wanted to make sure that the information was 100% correct before forwarding it to the pack.
We will be meeting at the church (1st United Methodist) at 1:15 and will be leaving there at exactly 1:30. From the church we will be driving to the Sheetz Gas Station in Hermitage, PA near the cone factory. At the gas station we will be using the restrooms as the factory does not have public restrooms that are available to us. After the restroom breaks we will be going to the factory. (3435 Lamor Road, Hermitage, PA 16148, (724) 962-5747) We will have a brief introduction then split into 2 groups based on age. The older children will get a more technical tour while the younger children will get a tour that is more age appropriate. The tours will be about 5 minutes apart. Due to the nature of the tour younger siblings will not be permitted into the production area, however may wait in the lobby during the factory tour.
The rules from Joy Cone are as follows:
1. Hair nets must be worn in production area.
2. All jewelry and wrist watches are to be removed ( a plain wedding band is permitted)
3. Leave handbags and backpacks in the car or lobby
4. No open toe shoes (sandals, flip flops, etc.)
5. No cameras in the production area.
6. Must stay with the tour guide.
7. No items in any pockets above the waist.
8. Restrooms ARE NOT open to the public.
